API 602 — Compact Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel and Stainless Steel Gate, Globe and Check Valves
The small-bore, high-pressure specification. Where a piping class calls for a Class 800 forged valve on a 1-inch line, it is API 602 that defines what has to be inside it.
API 602 covers forged carbon, alloy and stainless steel gate, globe and check valves from DN8 to DN100 (NPS ¼ to NPS 4) in Class 150, 300, 600, 800, 1500 and 2500. Its purpose is to standardise a valve that occupies the smallest possible envelope while retaining full-rating pressure retention.
The standard distinguishes bolted bonnet, welded bonnet and pressure-seal bonnet construction, and defines a trim numbering system (1 through 10 plus special trims) that lets a piping class specify seat, wedge and stem materials in a single code. That trim number is the single most useful piece of information on an enquiry for small-bore valves.
We supply API 602 gate, globe and piston check valves in A105, F304L, F311, F316, F316L, F51 and F53 forgings, with socket-weld, threaded and flanged ends.

We check the dimensions, the material and the standard before we price — which is the part that decides whether the valve actually fits. RFQ answered within one working day.
