LNG & Cryogenic

Extended bonnet geometry, materials that stay tough at −196 °C, and a test regime that proves both.

A cryogenic valve is not a normal valve with a cold rating on the nameplate. Two things change structurally: the bonnet is extended so that the stem packing sits above 0 °C, and the body has to accommodate the cold shrinkage of the trim without binding the ball or wedge.

Materials follow: CF8M and CF3M austenitic castings, which remain tough at −196 °C, with Inconel and stainless internals. Carbon steel is not acceptable at these temperatures. Seat and seal materials move to PTFE, PCTFE or specific elastomers that retain flexibility at temperature.

Testing is the part buyers cannot verify from a drawing. We cryogenic-test to the project specification — typically a liquid nitrogen immersion test with seat leakage measurement — and issue the report. Ask us for the test procedure before you place the order.

Recommended selections

Duty Recommendation
Body material CF8M / CF3M austenitic, or Inconel
Bonnet Extended, length per size and temperature
Seats PTFE / PCTFE / metal for severe service
Testing LN2 immersion, documented seat leakage

We check the dimensions, the material and the standard before we price — which is the part that decides whether the valve actually fits. RFQ answered within one working day.
