Power Generation

Boiler house, feedwater, steam extraction and cooling water. Creep, cycling and thermal shock define the valve.

Power plant valves live in a regime that refinery valves do not: high temperature sustained for decades, thermal cycling on load-following plant, and feedwater chemistry that is aggressively controlled. The valve that survives is the one whose seating geometry and body design handle cycling, not just steady pressure.

Cr-Mo bodies — WC6, WC9, C12A — are the standard for the boiler house and main steam. Feedwater regulation is globe valve territory: a controllable characteristic and a seat that can be lapped rather than replaced. Extraction and drain lines need tight shut-off at high differential, which is where a pressure-seal bonnet globe earns its cost.

Cooling water is the other end: large bore, low pressure, ductile iron or stainless double eccentric butterfly valves with the correct EN 558 or ASME face-to-face, and dual plate checks sized for the actual reverse-flow energy.

Recommended selections

Duty Recommendation
Main steam WC9 / C12A gate and globe, pressure-seal bonnet
Feedwater regulation Globe valve, plug type, lapped seat
Extraction / drain Class 900–2500 globe, tight shut-off
Cooling water Double eccentric butterfly, dual plate check

We check the dimensions, the material and the standard before we price — which is the part that decides whether the valve actually fits. RFQ answered within one working day.
