Refining & Petrochemical

Hot oil, hydrogen, sour water, spent caustic, reformer and letdown service. Material selection is the whole specification.

A refinery contains every material problem in one plant. Cr-Mo bodies for hot hydrogen and steam, stainless and duplex for corrosive streams, hardfaced trims for abrasive and erosive media, and fire-safe quarter-turn valves wherever a leak would find an ignition source.

The specification that governs most of this is a piping class, and the piping class will call out API 600, API 602, API 603, API 6D or API 609 by name with a trim number and a facing standard. Our job is to hit that call-out exactly rather than to offer a near equivalent.

Fugitive emission is increasingly specified on refinery valves — packing and stem seal performance to ISO 15848 rather than a simple packing description. We supply low-emission packing sets with the test documentation to support them.

Recommended selections

Duty Recommendation
Hot hydrogen / steam WC6, WC9 or C12A body, stellite seating
Corrosive streams CF8M, duplex or super duplex body
Small-bore HP API 602 forged gate, globe and piston check
Fire-exposed quarter-turn API 607 fire-safe tested, metal secondary seat

Send the piping class, not the part number

We check the dimensions, the material and the standard before we price — which is the part that decides whether the valve actually fits. RFQ answered within one working day.
